Favorite Underrated Disney Animated Movies

Hello there, Fiends! It’s Zee again bringing you another post about movies! If you follow me on Facebook, you would have noticed that I absolutely went gaga because Netflix now has a few of my favorite non-Disney animated movies!

Now, I’m super inspired to talk about my favorite underrated Disney movies! If you think that Disney is all about princesses, it’s NOT! And those are the movies that I absolutely wish are popular! So sit back and share some love to these underrated Disney animated movies!

Treasure Planet (2002)

Treasure Planet

Directed by: Ron Clements, John Musker

This stunning futuristic adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island IS A FREAKING AWESOME MOVIE, PEOPLE! It’s full of adventure and hijinks and don’t you just LOVE the song I’m Still Here? Plus, the worldbuilding and the characters? Sure, there are no princesses or damsels in distress here, but SO WHAT?! Also, it’s directed by Ron Clements and John Musker who did The Little Mermaid and Aladdin!

Meet the Robinsons (2007)

Meet the Robinsons

Directed by Stephen John Anderson

Here is another hidden gem that I think is an amazing Disney movie! Sure, there are no princesses but the plot was genius! Also, that song Little Wonders is AMAZING! And I am one to admit that I have cried while watching this movie!

Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001)

Directed by Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise

I have always been interested in the legend of Atlantis and when I saw this movie, I WAS SOLD! It’s such an amazing journey into the unknown. Also, there is a legit princess! And Kida is freaking kickass!

Hercules (1997)

Directed by: Ron Clements, John Musker

I don’t understand why this movie wasn’t popular? I mean, Megara is a freaking feminist BEFORE feminism was a thing! And I am one of those people who admit to loving the romance between Herc and Meg! And I don’t care that this is not how the OG Hercules story really happened! Sure, Meg is a mortal but what Hercules did to save her was AMAZEBALLS! And did I mention the music?

The Rescuers Down Under (1990)

The Rescuers Down Under

Directed by Mike Gabriel

I was one of those kids who rewatched The Rescuers Down Under as much as I watched The Little Mermaid! Sure, TRDU was released right after TLM, so it obviously doesn’t compare. But come one! Who doesn’t love Miss Bianca and Mr. Bernard? And Orville? Also, there is a Kangaroo Mouse! It’s also set in Australia, ya’ll!

The Black Cauldron (1985)

The Black Cauldron

Directed by Richard Rich, Ted Berman

This movie was released a year after I was born but I love it! My husband just saw this movie this year because it’s on Netflix (or was it Hulu?). Yes, you can tell that the animation is pretty old school and may not stand the test of time – but the freaking villain scared the bejeebers out of me! Also, there is an adorable pig! However, this movie ALMOST run Disney out of business and I honestly can’t understand why!
